YEP's Future: Multiplying the Impact
The Youth Empowerment Program has grown from a six-month initiative to an expanded multi-year program that offers more resources to equip youth to change their communities. New training has been added to YEP, including components for middle school students, scholarship opportunities for participants, and a National Youth Advisory Council to help guide YEP and other World Vision work in the U.S.
World Vision now also equips community organizations to support youth involved in YEP through capacity building subscriptions. Subscribers receive a bundle of World Vision trainings, technical assistance, networking opportunities, and other resources, all designed to expand an organization's ability to support youth involved in YEP.
YEP in the Future: During the next three years, YEP will continue to grow as new program components are added and initiatives launched to give more youth opportunities to participate in advocacy and leadership.
New components will include:
- A YEP model designed to operate in high schools
- A YEP partner program to direct college-age youth after graduation
- A volunteer-led YEP model
- Youth-produced resources, including merchandise and publications
- Annual summits on the state level
"The Youth Empowerment Program has showed me that with effort, I can make a change in the community, and that my opinion matters," said Katie, a YEP participant. "It has provided me with a security in myself and instilled in me important traits, such as the ability to represent myself and my community in a positive manner."
