Operation Diaper Drive 2014
On March 5 - 26, Weyerhaeuser is partnering with World Vision to launch a company-wide volunteer initiative to collect and donate disposable diapers for babies in need across the U.S. and Canada.
Here's a great way to tell the "story" — Weyerhaeuser helps families in need.
One in three families struggle every day to provide a basic need for their babies, clean and dry diapers. Babies typically need 6-10 diapers per day and most licensed day care centers require a full day's worth of disposable diapers.
Non-profit organizations do not have nearly enough of this resource to meet the need. Babies kept in wet, dirty diapers for extended periods of time experience discomfort and skin irritation. They cry more, and are at a greater risk of abuse. Public assistance programs like food stamps focus on food and nutrition and do not cover diapers. Many parents struggle to pay for rent and food and cannot afford the high cost of adequate diapers for their children.
Operation Diaper Drive is designed to empower Weyerhaeuser employees to make a difference is this simple yet critical issue. You can participate by making a tax deductible donation. You will receive a tax-deductible receipt by email. World Vision will use these donations to purchase even more disposable diapers toward this effort.
IT'S A NATURAL FIT
Weyerhaeuser's Cellulose Fibers business uses a renewable resource to produce biodegradable fluff pulp that is used in many of the diapers sold today. Weyerhaeuser is proud of its proven track record in managing forests on a sustainable basis to make products essential for everyday lives.
