The Youth Empowerment Project
World Vision Youth Empowerment Projects are community-based and feature mentoring as a key element of every activity. Each project is designed to build the capacity of young people to become agents of change in their local communities. These projects focus on reducing risk factors and increasing protective factors in the lives of young people through the strategies of leadership development, service to others, and civic engagement.
Youth Empowerment Projects employ basic principles of community youth development, including the view of youth as assets to their communities and necessary partners for community change. World Vision works to create youth-adult partnerships wherever and whenever possible. Our youth development staff and mentors creatively engage the talent, passion, and energy that characterize the unique gifts and contributions that young people make to our world. One of the outcomes of this work includes the Youth Empowerment Summit (Y.E.S.).
