Artistic Gift Supports Youth Leaders
Southern California youth participating in World Vision’s Youth Empowerment Project recently received a creative donation from Brazen Guitar Company.
The donation, an electric blue guitar, was presented to the youth by renowned guitarist Caleb Quaye. Quaye is a former guitarist for Elton John, Hall and Oates, and Paul McCartney. The guitar will be auctioned to support World Vision’s Youth Empowerment Project in Los Angeles.
World Vision deeply values young people as citizens and partners who have unique perspectives and the potential to provide creative leadership in addressing issues that face their communities. Our Youth Empowerment Project is encouraging the voice of young people growing up in at-risk communities, providing them the opportunity to learn to become active agents of change right where they live.
The project provides training, support, experiences, and resources that develop a young person’s leadership and advocacy potential. Participating youth learn to become active citizens who speak out and influence change in their communities.
In mid-July, the Los Angeles youth delegation traveled to Washington, D.C., to present policy recommendations for community change to their congressional lawmakers. Now these trained youth will have new opportunities to share their expertise and influence other young people in working for community transformation.
